YAAFM 10: 50 Cent

"What the hell is wrong with you people?"

submission: YAAFM 10: 50 Cent
date: April 29, 2005

This was another typical YAAFM, and I was amused and impressed by the message and jokes that were made by The Walrus regarding gangster rap and its teachings to our young. The graphics were OK, as they always are, but this series is centralized around its revealing of the ridiculousity of our high society - it's not meant to be a visual cock-tingler. I have been a little irritated by the voices since the series began however many years ago, but they're fitting, and you learn to accept them.

Regarding the money - jesus fucking christ, none of you must have ever tried to work for yourselves to complain so bitterly about what actually is a really good magazine deal, and a small source of revenue for someone who's trying to entertain you. I bet he makes $1 from every subscription he sells - how's that so different from every other author, who sells T-Shirts, and every other piece of crap that CafePress churns through its heat-press-printer?

Anyway, great job bashing 50-cent, I can't stand the guy.

Cursors of the Future!

"Nice visuals, but not a whole lot of content."

date: March 19, 2005

Jorj,

Good job with programming a bunch of interesting cursors, but after the first few, I found the system to just be redundant. Every cursor was based on the concept of multiple (or single) movieclips taking the mouse's position, whether it was a single frame delay or a movement that occurred 3 seconds later.

You should try entirely abstract concepts... such as a robot hunting the mouse (using some sort of random AI), or particles that fall off of the cursor and try to pull it in certain directions (using Flash's drawing API).

Just use your imagination. You don't have to use the same algorithm for everything.

Destination Mouth

"A heart-clenching tale of love and deceit"

submission: Destination Mouth
date: February 2, 2005

I found this animation to not only be effective as art, but as something far greater. The conflict between the dog, his feces, and the mouth of Mr. "johnnathan' 'ramathorn' was believable and personally relevent.

I thank you.

Catfight

"Cute Animation"

submission: Catfight
date: January 30, 2005

Nice job! I liked the backgrounds especially - I could tell you put a lot of time into them, but the detailed training sequences only led to disappointment, since your actual cat-fight was nothing more than a rumbling cloud of action. Also, the cats' overhead movement was a little too slow and out of proportion.

Overall, this movie had good graphics, a good soundtrack, and a decent storyline, but you should've probably put another week of work into it.

Keep up the fine work!

newgrounds the legend

"Has Ross been forgotten?"

date: February 22, 2003

The idea of this movie was cute, I guess, but it really wasn't the "true history" of newgrounds. The early days of the email-submission portal, the actual popularity of club a seal and FDA... they seem to be forgotten :(

I guess I'm just an old vet that wants too much.

Pretty good movie to those who are new (members for a year or less) to newgrounds, though.

The Return of Breadman

"First thoughts -- What the fuck!?"

date: January 14, 2002

As sick and overall STRANGE that whole thing was, it was pretty funny and original. The animation was good, and there was some admirable frame-by-frame going on that I enjoyed.
